Man Convicted For Kidnapping Coos Bay Girls

By Jim McCoy Thu 20th September Newscoastal news

A man accused of taking two Coos Bay girls to a park and giving the marijuana and alcohol was convicted in Coquille of kidnapping. The Coos Bay World reports Robert Perez wept in court Wednesday. He faces about six years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 1. He's also facing time for a separate conviction last week on burglary and theft charges.

The girls, 12 and 13 years old, were found July 9 at Ferry Road Park in North Bend. They said they feared Perez was going to rape them. Perez testified Tuesday that he didn't bring the girls back to their apartment on time because he was letting one of them "blow off steam" after a fight with her mother.
