Tribes Protest State's Delay on Klamath Dams

Two Northern California Native American tribes are protesting a decision by state officials to postpone the relicensing process for four hydroelectric dams on the Klamath River.The Eureka Times-Standard reports the Hoopa and Resighini tribes are upset over Tuesday's decision by the State Water Resources Control Board to put the process on hold for another year.

Blackwell Road House Fire

A fire did "significant damage" to a house on Blackwell Road this morning. A neighbor reported the blaze to Jackson County Fire District 3 after 9 a.m.

Police Charge Gold Hill Man With Shooting Dog

A felony animal abuse charge has been filed against a Gold Hill man accused of shooting his bulldog in the mouth with a rifle and then leaving him tied outside a veterinary clinic.

Rogue River police Chief Ken Lewis says 27-year-old Jason King told him that he shot the dog from a distance last month because it was attacking goats.

Medford Man Dies In Off-Road Crash

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports that a 71-year old Medford man died Wednesday in a motorcycle crash in the Applegate area. Eugene Lee Cannady was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
